Power a City Generators Items

Generators create Power in Power a City. This catalog page explains their role in Power Your City so you stop buying production when you actually needed Batteries.

Role in the loop

Generators tick Power into your plant. That Power must land in Batteries before a city sale converts it to Cash. If you only expand Generators, you will hit a soft ceiling where meters stay maxed and output is wasted—or stolen.

Always cross-check Generators vs Batteries before a shopping spree and rank spends with the Generators tier list.

Placement basics

  • Line Generators along a spine feeding Batteries (Best layouts).
  • Leave walking lanes for sell trips and emergency defense.
  • Keep early Generators replaceable; do not cement a forever footprint.
  • Avoid trapping Batteries behind a Generator wall.

Good placement makes How to sell Power faster and helps you notice when storage lags.

When to upgrade Generators

Upgrade when Batteries stay empty despite normal play, or when a Power code is active and you still have storage headroom. During 1MVISITS, Generators become temporarily more valuable—see Codes Hub. If Batteries are already full, buy storage from Items: Batteries instead.

Generators and theft

Raiders want Batteries, not Generators. That does not mean production is irrelevant: after a theft, strong Generators rebuild stockpiles faster. Combine recovery with How to protect Batteries and optional counter-raids (How to steal Power).

Generators and scripts

Auto-collect or auto-upgrade scripts may interact with Generator loops. Read risks on the Scripts Hub. Manual mastery via How to play should come first.

Shopping session template

  1. Open Boost timer if a code is active.
  2. Meter check sixty seconds.
  3. If storage has room and Power is slow → buy Generator tier.
  4. Place on spine.
  5. Sell once.
  6. Reassess; link back to Items Hub.

Capacity versus coverage

Adding many weak Generators can look productive while actually blocking sell lanes and making defense harder. Prefer fewer stronger units along a clear spine once mid-game Cash arrives. Catalog pages never invent fake shop SKUs—Restore Power can rename tiers—so judge each buy by whether Batteries stop sitting empty after sixty seconds of normal play.

Boost windows and Generator buys

When 1MVISITS is active, Generators temporarily look better than they are on paper. That is useful only if Batteries still have headroom. If storage is already capped, redeeming a Power code without buying Batteries first just paints a fuller meter for thieves. Pair Power boosts with Items: Batteries checks and Cash boosts with a ready sell path from How to sell Power.

Recovery after a bad Generator binge

If you carpeted the plant with low-impact machines, sell what you can, delete path blockers, and rebuild toward the Best layouts spine. Then climb the Generators tier list one step at a time while watching meters. Use official codes—not executors—to accelerate recovery (Scripts Hub explains why automation is optional sugar).

Generators are accelerators. Pair them with storage and selling or they only accelerate disappointment.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Power a City players.

What do Generators do in Power a City?

They produce Power over time. You still need Batteries and city sells to turn that Power into Cash.

Why are my Generators not helping?

Batteries may be full. Sell or expand storage before buying more production.

Where is the ranked Generator list?

See the Generators tier list page under Tier List.

Should Generators face the city?

They should feed toward Batteries that face your sell exit, forming a production spine.

Do Generator names stay the same after updates?

Shop labels can change. Rank by role and meter impact instead of memorizing a single SKU string.

Can I ignore Batteries if Generators are cheap?

No. Cheap production into full storage wastes output. Balance with the Generators vs Batteries guide.
